Torque release technique is a specialized adjustment chiropractic technique that can correct subluxation or spinal misalignments in a gentle and non-invasive means. This supports the overall goal of chiropractic care, to build on and encourage the body’s ability to naturally heal injuries and illness, and better adapt to the stresses of daily life.
With TRT, the chiropractor gently and manually manipulates the spine, creating a more normal tone to the nervous system, which is why it is also known as tonal technique. When your spinal tone is too high, you can experience stress to your musculoskeletal system, dysfunction in the organs, and a decreased effectiveness in your immune response. When the tone is too low, you can end up with weakened muscles and a variety of aches, pain and discomfort as the nervous system fails to properly conduct electrical impulses to your body.
TRT is specifically designed to solve these neurological tonal imbalances by helping to regulate the brain, spinal cord and nervous functions. It corrects these subluxations using a specialized adjustment instrument which helps to correct
TRT uses minimal force in spinal adjustment, which releases tension and pressure, and enables the nervous system to communicate with the rest of the body more effectively from the brain all the way down the spine and throughout the entire body system. In plain terms, it encourages the body to heal and correct itself in the long term, providing improved relief and health.
TRT can reduce blockages in the system, ease tension, and allow the nervous system to re-integrate with the body in an optimal way, vastly improving bodily function and performance.
“My daughter, Lizzie, is special needs with neurological issues that caused her to have seizures frequently as a baby. She also suffers from Tourette-like symptoms where she would scream at the top of her lungs and also spontaneously grab and hurt her younger brother. Lizzie is developmentally delayed in speech, motor skills, and also physically. Lizzie is currently 4 years old and has been in therapy since she was nine months old. Her condition is severe enough that she requires 3 different therapies each week and qualifies for special needs classes. Lizzie has been treated by several different therapist and specialists with whom we have spent large amounts of money with only minimal results. We found out about Cultivate Health Chiropractic and Dr. Jessica through our church. After our first visit to Cultivate Health Chiropractic we felt completely at ease and extremely hopeful. Dr. Jessica was confident and knowledgeable and we had no doubt that chiropractic would help Lizzie. After only a few adjustments her three therapists were amazed at her astounding progress since her last visit with them two weeks ago, which was the day of her first adjustment. She walked on a balance beam without assistance. She was speaking in full sentences instead of fragments. She was also repeating huge words. More importantly, she went from being a strain in our marriage to a true joy. The Tourette-like symptoms have completely stopped. She is doing things that she has never been able to do before. Lizzie has gone from being aggressive and unpredictable to calm and well mannered. My entire family is under specific chiropractic care with Dr. Jessica and we have all come to Dr. Jessica with some serious things we needed help with. Cultivate Health Chiropractic is professional yet kid-friendly, and our children look forward to their visits with Dr. Jessica. Cultivate Health Chiropractic restores faith in chiropractic. Dr. Jessica removes nerve interference to allow the body to do what God created it to do, heal.”

The first Activator Technique device was developed in 1967 by Dr. Arlan Fuhr, and was later patented in 1978. It has since been approved by the FDA as both effective and safe for use as a medical device. This technique is the second-most commonly used method of chiropractic, following manual adjustment, and roughly 70% of all chiropractors make use of it, often combined with other options and methods.
The difference between the Activator method and other methods of chiropractic is that rather than hand-based pressures, the instrument uses rubber pistons to effect spinal adjustments. The device is adjusted to produce a specific amount of force that produces precise corrections to the spine with minimal risk of discomfort or injury.
In normal manual adjustment, patients tend to stiffen up in anticipation of pressure, which can make the adjustment more difficult and introduce complications. This tendency to tighten up is lessened with the use of an activator device, which is also exceptionally precise in its application of force.
